Welcome to the Jungle Nursery

Welcome to the Jungle Nursery

My husband Tim and I went to some markets and stumbled across the gorgeous jungle animal prints you can see in the photos of the nursery. Tim then decided that he would be creative with his painting skills to create our welcome to the jungle nursery.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

The Sky- (It was a half mix of Nipon Admiral interior and Taubmans White gloss paint)
The Grass- Taubmans Ray Green
The Sun- Dulux Bold Yellow
The Clouds- Dulux Ceiling white

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

Tim used his creative edge and painted the sky, sun, clouds and grass. He had painted the sky, grass and sun with paint brushes and the clouds with a sponge.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

We bought a second hand white 'Childcare' cot from Ebay.

What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

We bought a wood coloured Grotime change table (which we painted white) and a Miyo baby hammock from Ebay. The toy box and book shelf were bought online from Teamson furniture.

What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

For the cot linen we have used Humphrey's Corner Cot Comforter and a matching Humphrey's Corner 3 piece sheet set. They were bought from My Baby Warehouse.

Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

The curtains were handmade by me (material bought from Spotlight) and the cool rug was bought from Spotlight.

All the jungle animal

prints on the wall were bought from a lovely lady at markets we went to.

The beautiful toy box and book shelf was ordered online from Teamson furniture.

The wall decal was bought on Ebay and the gorgeous knitted rug hanging over the cot was lovingly made by Nannie.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

All Bubbee Whalan's clothes are in the built in wardrobe and in a chest of draws inside the wardrobe.

Some of the toys and books are on the book shelf and there are more in the Toybox.

All the nappies and bath products are stored under the change table.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

It took about a week to complete. The painting was a little bit of a challenge for Tim but he got there in the end with some blood, sweat and tears...

and a lot of love. My favourite part was seeing my husband put so much love into decorating.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

The entire nursery was decorated by Daddy and I did all the buying of the furniture.

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?

My favourite part of Bubbee Whalan's nursery is the paint work done by Daddy. I love it so much because it was an idea thought up by my husband and it is original. I also love the gorgeous Teamson Furniture!
