Vintage Baby Nursery Idea

I originally did this nursery for my little boy Jackson. My vintage baby nursery idea for Flora was to convert it by throwing in some pink. The footprint of the room was altered slightly and we created cubbies for shelving and closet space.

My husband did all the carpentry, and lots of family assistance brought this room from the worst room in the house, to the best!

The vintage hand-stitched tea towels, with days of the week, found at an estate sale were the key piece that started the room on the road to an old-fashioned vintage nursery.

The round vintage baby crib is a hand-me-down from my cousin. It was originally blue.

The lovely white chifferobe was my great-grandmother's. My mom purchased the rocking chair as an antique from Dutch friends in the early '60s to use in my sister's nursery. The vintage tea towels are from an auction.

The coatrack was made by my cousin and the wrought iron doll bed was my maternal great-grandmother's.

Almost everything in here was a hand-me-down, making it an eclectic mix of classic and modern, mostly just old-fashioned lovely.

This vintage nursery has been a wonderfully relaxing place to be with my babies.

I love this vintage nursery - it's so special.

If you are lucky enough to have access to some nursery goodies that have been handed down through your family, this is a great way to go. Create a room full of keepsakes and special memories.

I like so many elements of this design it's hard to isolate just one or two, but I think my favorite aspect of this room is the beautiful border around the top of the walls. Using a chair rail and prints is a very effective alternative to wall paper.
