I was happy to discover that all three of my daughters' names are in the top 20 baby names for the decade. (Samantha at number 8, Jessica at number 19 and Sarah at number 12). They must be lovely names - so many people can't be wrong - right?

The two top climbers this year are the new entries, Sophie and Bailey, coming in at positions number 82 and 83 respectively.

These are closely followed by Jocelyn and Aubrey, each with a jump of 23 places and Claire with a jump of 20.




The biggest losers for 2007 are Stephanie and Megan each losing 18 places, followed by Michelle and Katelyn losing 14 places each.




The top 2007 new entry is Sophie coming in at 82, followed closely by Bailey at 83. Gracie and Molly just make it at 96 and 97 respectively.

There are 35 new baby names on the top 100 list for the 2000's that did not appear on the top 100 list for the 1990's.

The top entry is Isabella, a very popular baby girl name in the 2000's at number 11 so far for the decade and currently at number 2 on the 2007 list. She is followed by Sophia at number 15 for the decade and number 6 for 2007.

Other top entries include Chloe at 23 for the decade and 16 for 2007; Ava at 24 for the decade and 4 for 2007; Hailey at 26 for the decade and 23 for 2007 and Mia at 29 for the decade and 15 for 2007.




35 of the top 100 baby girl names for the 1990's did not make the 2000's list.

The most popular baby name for the 1990's to drop off the list, Brittany, was listed at number 7 for the 1990's.

Other top 1990's dropouts include Courtney (from number 22), Kelsey (from number 33), Chelsea (from number 34) and Tiffany (from number 37).
