The Lorax Dr Seuss Nursery Room

This Lorax nursery room theme was my idea. When I was pregnant I watched The Lorax and I was in love with the bright colors, the concept and the originality. This inspired me to do my baby boy's room wrapped around this idea. I have always been a huge fan of Dr. Seuss and his work.


What brand and color of paint did you use?

We used Behr paint for the large areas including the sky and hills. I then used acrylic paints for all of the detailed drawings.


If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

I freehand drew the designs, trees and pictures. The wall quote is a decal I purchased online that is applied like a sticker.


What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

I purchased our crib and room set used online through our local Craigslist. It is originally from Canada and not available for purchase in the US. The brand is Creations.


What nursery bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

I purchased a white crib bumper at Target and yellow fabric dye at Joanne's to color it. I used a yellow and white striped sheet from Target and a white and yellow blanket for the crib.


Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

We purchased the room's wood blinds from Lowes and the wall decal I purchased from Etsy.com


How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

Most items are in bins in the closet and the toys are in storage baskets.


How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

The room took me 4 months to complete and it was fun but very time consuming. My favorite part was putting all the clothes and toys away and bringing in the furniture once the paint was finished.


Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

The dad and grandpa painted the solid background and I drew all the pictures in pencil on the wall. I had 2 friends help me paint my drawings.


What do you love most about your little one's finished room?

I love the bright colors and the whimsical look of the furniture.
