Street Art Themed Nursery

The idea for my street art themed nursery came from wanting to have a place to put the artwork that the youth group kids at our church were making.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

Behr, custom colors.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

I added galvanized steel to the bottom half of the walls. We will be able to put magnets on her wall!

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

Stork Craft from Target.

What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

Cubical shelving and Badger Basket Company changing table.

Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

  • The ties on the curtains were handmade.
  • Most of the pictures on the walls were painted by friends.
  • A set of nesting dolls were painted by a friend.
  • A friend made an amigarumi bunny.
  • A quilt and a couple blankets were hand made.
  • We switched out the wall light to an industrial galvanized steel light to fit the nursery theme too.
  • 3 of the cloth baskets were decorated on the front.
  • The ceiling is a fabric ceiling made to look like a circus tent!

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

In cloth baskets on shelves with labels.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

It was worked on over the course of a couple years, most of it was difficult but still fun. My favorite part was doing the fabric ceiling.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

I did a lot of it on my own. My mom, sister, dad, and friends helped too though. The ceiling, the metal and trim, the painting, putting together the furniture, and all the art work needed a lot of help from them.

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?

I love how colorful and cheerful it is and I love seeing how fascinated with it she is!
