Safari Animal Nursery

The Safari Animal Nursery was my idea, inspired by my love for Animals, I wanted to give my son a jump start on loving and appreciating animals.

I painted with Ralph Lauren paint - Beige & Blue. I used a pattern for the animals on the walls, traced them and then painted them in.

I draped burlap from the vaulted ceiling to give the look of being in a tent in the safari.

The furniture and crib are second hand from Craigs List. I pieced the bedding together myself. The bumper, skirt, blankets, and crib sheet are all from Babies R Us. The wood blinds are from Home Depot, the animal lamp is from Babies r Us, shadow boxes and crates are from Michaels - I hand painted them.

I used glow in the dark paint to put stars and galaxies to glow through the burlap on the ceiling to create an evening sky look. We used a had made stencil to do the little green grass along the border of the room, inspired by the grass on the lamp that was purchased from Babies r Us.

It took about 4 months. I am single mom and had to do a lot on my own, but my mom came up every few weeks and REALLY helped out, I would had never been able to do it without her. My 2 nephews did lay the laminate flooring for me. Some of it was easy and other parts were NOT. Like draping the burlap was MUCH harder then we thought it would be. But well worth it. It was fun for sure, My favorite part was working with my mom and Finally FINISHING it!

I love it all, how it all really came together, when we started, other than it being a Safari theme we weren't sure exactly what to do but ideas came along as we progressed through the process.
