Riley's Refuge Nursery

Because of our inter-racial background, my husband and I started calling our baby girl Riley, "Little Panda". We decided to use pandas and hot air balloons as the theme for her nursery.

We made a bamboo forest around the wall, and hung hot air balloons with pandas in it from the ceiling. The colors used were black and white with lime green as the accent color.

During the baby shower, the guests colored the letters of the English alphabet, which we hung on a canvas. We also painted Malayalam consonants (Indian dialect) on another canvas. The letter “R” for Riley was painted in lime green to stand out.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

Behr Spring Stream

What nursery bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

Spirodot Green & Black Baby Crib Bedding by Sweet Jojo Designs.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

Baskets

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

3 months. Finding bamboo leaves for a good price was difficult. I ordered it finally from China. Painting the alphabet was one of my favorite parts.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

My husband and I came up with the idea as well as created the majority of the nursery design.

What do you love most about your little one's finished baby room?

We love it that we came together and created this room ourselves.
