We wanted a neutral colored room as we don't know the sex of the baby and wanted the room to apply to the next child as well. We settled on a Safari Jungle nursery theme, keeping the dark green wall that was in the room previously. I came up with the idea for a bamboo wall early and had to figure out how to create that.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

We used Behr paint, and had dark green for the sleeping side of the room, and light green for the other. We used a bright orange for the floating shelves and frame to bring in some fun bright color accents.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

The dark wall was previously painted with a rough texture.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

We got the Graco Lauren crib from Target online for $150

What brand of nursery furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

We used IKEA furniture for the dresser and bookshelf. The rocker is Dutailier brand.

What nursery bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

The nursery bedding is just an orange fitted crib sheet, bought off of Amazon.com

Tell us about your window treatments, nursery lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

For the bamboo wall we used a bamboo fence (ordered online)at the shortest height available and screwed into the wall stubs.

The animal wall art we bought off of Etsy.com as digital art, which we then printed on 12x12 canvas prints.

The window curtains

were bought from JCPenney and were cut off to half-length to fit the short window.

The closet was a fabric pattern I found at Walmart and sewed to slide over the top bar.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

We built shelves in the closet and have some baskets for smaller items. The dresser has some baskets as well for the various size diapers.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

We started planning the baby room back in June (1st trimester) and completed a few weeks after the baby shower in late November 2012. As the dad, it was my project that I could really own and get behind in its design and construction, with my wife providing her input, advice, and some of the details like the baskets and items needed. It was fun for me, and something I put a lot of thought and effort into.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

I worked on most of the design and my wife helped with the details. My parents helped us install the Bamboo fence, paint the room, and sew the curtains.

What do you love most about your little one's finished baby room?

We absolutely LOVE the uniqueness of the room with the bamboo fence wall, the cute wall art, and large giraffe acting as a mobile for the crib (which really adds a 3D element to the animal themed room). And we are excited that this neutral room will work for our little boy or girl!
