This recall is in regards to Neocate Infant Formula. It involves approximately 3700 cans from Lot #P91877 only.

Neocate is a hypoallergenic powder formula packaged in 14 oz cans and distributed by pharmacies and health care professionals. It is not sold in stores.

The affected cans were distributed between September 1st, 2009 and September 11, 2009. You can find the Lot number being recalled (#P91877) by looking at the bottom of the can or on the right hand side of the case label.

Reason for the recall:

Due to a one-time blending error, this lot contains cans with protein levels lower than that declared on the label.

There are no adverse reactions or risks reported or expected from this recall. (However, longterm use could have negative growth effects.)

Even though the protein level is lower than stated, it still meets the minimum guidelines for protein established by the World Health Organization.

What should you do?

If your can is involved in the recall, stop using the formula immediately. Use the Nutricia North American Customer Helpline (800-365-7354) to get further instructions.
