Nature Inspired Neutral Nursery

I started looking on Pinterest for ideas and inspiration for my baby nursery. I wanted something neutral, natural and creative!


What brand and color of paint did you use?

We used recycled paint from Our Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We chose a dark grey, light green and teal blue.


If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

I brought my overhead projector from my classroom and projected a picture of birch trees I found on Pinterest. I then painted them on our gray wall using white paint.


What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

Babyletto Mercer, purchased from Babies R Us


What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

We bought the matching Babyletto changing table, an IKEA bookshelf and a rocker we found at a garage sale.


What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

I made a crib skirt using a template I found on pinterest. Our crib sheet was a garage sale find and our bumper was a hand me down from a family member.


Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

We purchased curtains with birds and branches as well as our ceiling light fixture and rug from Ikea.

I made a door sign using a foam square, fabric and buttons from pinterest and we found the lights above her changing table from a garage sale.


How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

We have closet organizers as well as canvas baskets to use for storage.


How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

It took about a month. We first had to strip the 100 year old pine floors that were covered in glue and then seal them. The painting took two weekends and the furniture came in after that!


Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

My parents helped me with the painting and my husband did the floors.


What do you love most about your little one's finished room?

I just love how creative it is! It feels very original and I am so proud of it!
