Modern Jungle Nursery Idea

The first thing we did to bring our modern jungle nursery idea to life was to remove the closet doors to open up the space in the room. Then we painted the inside with Afternoon Delight by Valspar. (The ceiling is the same color.) The rest of the room is painted with Awakening, also by Valspar.

To create a changing table we added a custom made shelf to the closet. We painted it black then attached two white plastic tubs with rails underneath for extra diapers and medicines. The second shelf with the coat rail above the changing table has three more plastic tubs for clothing. (We bought the plastic tubs from IKEA for $2-3.)




The crib is the Roxanna 3 in 1 with a drawer from Walmart. The bedding, rug, mobile and pillow on the chair are the Barnsig Park Line from IKEA. (I love the rug!)

The animals on the walls were painted by my husband to mimic the bedding.




The oversized chair in the corner is from IKEA. The slipcover can be removed to be washed, or to pull the chair out into a twin size bed for late nights with baby. (Or when my mother-in-law comes to visit.)

The curtains are also from IKEA. They cost $10 for two panels.




The glider was handed down to me from my brother and sister-in-law. We had the black and white polka dot covers custom made.

The four cube bookshelf from IKEA is great for storing little baby goodies.

Above the bookshelf are two black "illusion" picture frames from Target, and a table lamp with a small drum shade from Gordeman's.




I am so excited about how it turned out. It is exactly what I wanted!
