Jungle Animals Baby Nursery

I found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks and 1 day and this idea became a vision out of my own imagination.

What brand and color of paint did you use?
ColorPlace, Walmart brand. I used Prickly Pear Green and French Buttercup Petal.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.
The mural was hand drawn and painted with acrylic craft paint. The outline was done with a dry erase marker.

The interactive features are: polka dots on the Giraffe are felt as well as all the animals faces. This will allow our child to feel things on his/her wall. The whiskers on the Lion are winter wheat from the field. The leaves on the tree are created with tissue paper from the baby shower gifts.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?
Gulliver Crib, from IKEA

What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?
All furniture pieces are from flea markets and garage sales. I hand painted the images and printed the quotes myself.

What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?
Vitaminer Rand crib bedding from IKEA

Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?
The window treatment on the south wall was created from a vinyl sunshade. I carved out clouds, painted the shade

blue and attached wax paper behind the shade for the cloud effect.

The west wall window is an Eclipse Gromet Panel from Walmart.

All accessories are from flea markets and garage sales. The farm rug is from IKEA.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?
All baby items are stored in baskets, shelves and cubbyhole shelves that were hand made.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?
The mural took me less then 24 hours to create. It was very exciting to see my vision come to life. My favorite part was adding the interactive pieces. It gives my child a chance to learn and feel as they grow.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?
I did the majority of the nursery myself. I did have help hanging shelves and light fixtures. It was very rewarding to know that I created the design for my child.

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?
I love the inspirational quotes the best. The room is happy and bright but the quotes give baby a foundation to grow into a well rounded human being as well as reminding child and parents the real importance of life.

Thank you

Thank you all for the kind words. We are 3 weeks away from our little one's arrival. Since I have created the room I have had two babies visit that could not take their eyes off the mural. It was a rewarding feeling. Just wanted to thank everyone for the comments. We cannot wait for our little one to see their room!

Absolutely Inspirational - A room any child would want
by: Anonymous

This room is so delightful and innovative. The use of interactive elements throughout the room will engage the child in early learning.

The printed quotes are inspirational and provide a reminder that building good character in our children is most important when raising a child.

This room reflects a quote I love:

"The most important things in life are not things."

This child is blessed with having such great parents.

AWESOME!
