It's a Small World Nursery

It's a Small World Nursery

The mural and idea for my nursery was inspired by the "It's a Small World" ride at Walt Disney World and his world travels. My husband free handed the whole mural. For the main piece, he used a level, a T-square, a triangle and a yard stick. He did all the sketching and painting.

We painted with Valspar paint in the following colors:

  • White- Foggy Skys
  • Dark Peach-Apricot Jam
  • Light Peach- Coral Peach
  • Yellow-Bee Pollen
  • Gold-Pale Glow Brilliant Metals

We added glitter glue for accents from Michael's.

We bought the Baby Cache Heritage Oak Crib and furniture from Babies R Us.

We ordered Dollies by Cotton Tale crib bedding online from multiple sources because it is being discontinued.

The window treatment sheers are from Target and the balloon valance is from the cotton tale "dollies" collection. The letters of her name were purchased from Michael's, the "Dream" sign from Pier One, and the changing pad from Babies R Us. The rest of the room is part of the "Dollies" collection.

Creating the nursery started as quite fun, but quickly turned into a long drawn out task and became tedious. It was fun when we started adding the colors.

I love the way the room incorporates all the cultures with the beauties around the world. It is also worldly and will help us teach our little girl about the different places and tell her stories of our travels. It's a small world after all!

I love this theme. Especially since my husband and I are from different cultures. I always try to incorporate both our culture into the house decor, and this is a great way to incorporate it into the nursery. Thank so much for sharing.
