Drakes Checked Nursery

I knew I wanted my sister to quilt my bedding, so I browsed and browsed fabric till I found the colors and patterns I thought would work great and I based my nursery design around it.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

We used Valspar. Oatmeal as the nuetral color. Orange, blue, lime, and brown on the accent wall.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

We painted the accent wall completely white. Let dry completely then taped off the squares. Painted the 4 colors in a completely random pattern. Before it dried we took off the tape...and Voila!

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?

Davinci Kalani from Cribs.com

What brand of nursery furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

The dresser is Davinci. The changing table is homemade by my husband made from Aspen wood and stained.

What nursery bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

Homemade quilting from my sister. Fabric from Fabric.com.

Tell us about your window treatments, nursery lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?

Lighting from IKEA, Curtains, rocking chair cover, and pillows homemade.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

Basket and shelves.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

Very fun, planned it for months. Took about 2 weeks to do and finish.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

All on our own, with help of husband, Mom and Sister.

What do you love most about your little one's finished baby room?

It's all homemade, I get tons of compliments from visitors. I love to sit in the rocker and admire the fun accent wall. It will also transition well from baby to toddler to young child.
