Dr. Seuss Nursery Theme
Truffula Trees changing table
Green eggs and Ham, Horton and crib
Thing one and two, stuffed characters

We were adopting our first child. We didn't know the gender of the baby and wanted something that would be good for a girl or a boy and fun! What is more fun than a Dr. Seuss Nursery Theme?

I began painting the mural in March and completed it in August. I drew out each picture then hand painted every picture in layers, finishing with the the black outlines. I began with Horton (approx 30" tall) and ended with Yertle the Turtle (approx 14"). We incorporated two 3D elements. One for the Lorax (covers up and intercom), the other a balloon from "Oh the Places You'll Go".

A dear friend surprised us with a beautiful hand made quilt that goes with the theme perfectly. I found a Cat in the Hat pillow sham and Dr. Seuss character sheets at Pottery Barn. Our friends and family gave us the stuffed characters as gifts (mainly from Kohls). I used the built in drawers and colorful bins to keep all the baby's clothes, diapers, toys, etc.

What I love most about this room is how much our baby girl likes it! She loves to coo at the truffula trees by the changing table. She lays in bed looking at the murals on the wall. I know that once she is old enough to understand the stories she will like it even more. I am proud of what I have created! We did it on a tight budget too. Including the furniture we spent under $1500 for everything!
