Crib Recall Listing For Recalls Occurring Before 2007 2007 And 2008 Crib Recalls
21 October 2008, Delta Enterprise Recalls Drop-side Cribs Due to Spring Peg Failure Causing Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards
Reason For The Crib Recall:
If the spring pegs in the base of each leg of the crib are pushed back into the lower track, the pegs can become nonfunctional. This can cause the drop side to detach from the crib and create a gap that can entrap your baby. The CPSC is aware of a death of an 8-month-old child who suffocated when the drop side of his crib detached. The CPSC is also aware of one child entrapment and one incident in which the drop side detached due to a disengaged spring peg. Description Of The Product: 600,000 Delta Enterprise Drop-side cribs manufactured prior to 2006, made in China, that use the "Crib Trigger Lock with Spring Peg"
The model number, country of origin and manufacture dates are located on top of the mattress support board. The recalled cribs also have Delta's name and address on the mattress support boards and Delta's logo on the teether rail. Cribs currently sold at retail are not involved in this crib recall. The recalled cribs were sold at major retailers nationwide from January 2000 through January 2007 for between $33 and $200. What Should You Do? Stop using these cribs immediately and contact Delta to receive a free, easy-to-install repair kit. For additional information on this crib recall, contact Delta toll-free at (800) 816-5304 anytime.
21 October 2008, Delta Enterprise Recalls Drop-side Cribs Due to Missing Safety pegs Causing Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards
Reason For The Crib Recall:
When the safety pegs in the base of each leg of the crib are missing from the lower track, the crib locks can disengage and detach if lowered below the peg hole, creating a hazardous gap. This gap can lead to the entrapment and suffocation of your baby. The CPSC is aware of a death of an 8-month-old child who suffocated when the drop side of his crib detached. The CPSC is also aware of two child entrapments and nine incidents in which the drop side disengaged due to missing safety pegs. Description Of The Product: 985,000 Delta Enterprise Drop-side cribs manufactured in Taiwan and Indonesia, that use the "Crib Trigger Lock with Safety Peg".
The recall also includes model numbers 4624 (production dates 10/06 through 11/07) and 4750 (production dates 01/95 through 12/00). The model number, country of origin and manufacture dates are located on top of the mattress support board. The recalled cribs have date codes ranging from 1995 through December 2005 with one model (4624) made in 2007. Cribs currently sold at retail are not involved in this crib recall. The recalled cribs were sold at major retailers, including Walmart, Kmart and Target.com from January 1995 through September 2007 for about $100. What Should You Do? Stop using cribs that are missing a safety peg on any leg of the crib and contact Delta to receive a free, easy-to-install repair kit. The kit will include safety pegs in a bold color and warning labels to be affixed to the mattress board. If you have a crib with all safety pegs installed you may continue to use the crib; however, the CPSC recommends that you contact Delta for the repair kit for future assembly purposes. 16 October 2008, Playkids USA Recalls Convertible Cribs
Reason For The Crib Recall:

The CPSC is aware of the death of a 5-month-old child on August 31, 2008 in Brooklyn, N.Y. The child became entrapped between the mattress and the stationary side rail of the convertible crib and suffocated. 28 August 2008, Safety Alert Issued On Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 Convertible Close-Sleeper Bassinets
Reason For The Safety Alert: The CPSC has received reports of two strangulation deaths due to these bassinets. The CPSC has issued a safety alert on this product because SFCA Inc., the company which purchased all of Simplicity Inc.'s assets recently, is refusing to co-operate in issuing a crib recall. The CPSC is urging all caregivers to stop using these bassinets immediately, and to share this information with day care centers, consignment stores, family and friends to ensure that no child is placed to sleep in a Simplicity convertible bassinet covered by this warning. Description Of The Product: The Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets contain metal bars spaced farther apart than 2 3/8 inches, which is the maximum distance allowed under the federal crib safety standard. The metal bars are covered by an adjustable fabric flap which is attached by velcro. The fabric is folded down when the bassinet is converted into a bed-side co-sleeping position. If the velcro is not properly re-secured when the flap is adjusted, an infant can slip through the opening and become entrapped in the metal bars and suffocate. This warning does not cover bassinets produced in recent months that have fabric permanently attached over the lower bar.
The model number can be found on a label on the underside of the bassinet. The following retailers have voluntarily agreed to recall the product and provide a refund or store credit to consumers who return the recalled baby products to the store where purchased:

21 September 2007, Simplicity Recalls Nearly 1 Million Cribs
Reason For The Crib Recall:
The drop-side can detach from the crib, which can create a dangerous gap and lead to the entrapment and suffocation of your baby. The drop-side failures result from both the hardware and crib design, which allow consumers to unintentionally install the drop-side upside down. This, in turn, can weaken the hardware and cause the drop-side to detach from the crib. When the drop-side detaches, it creates a gap in which infants can become entrapped. There was a previous crib recall On June 6th 2007 of Simplicity Nursery-In-Box cribs, at which point new hardware was issued. The old hardware has been recalled. CPSC is aware of two deaths, seven infant entrapments and 55 incidents in Simplicity cribs with the old hardware. CPSC is now also investigating the death of a 1-year-old child in a Simplicity crib with newer style hardware, in which the drop-side was installed upside down. The newer hardware has not been recalled but CPSC is warning parents and caregivers to check all Simplicity cribs to make sure the drop-side is installed right side up. Description Of The Product: The recalled Simplicity crib models include: Aspen 3 in 1, Aspen 4 in 1, Nursery-in-a-Box, Crib 'n Changer Combo, Chelsea and Pooh 4 in 1. The recall also involves the following Simplicity cribs that used the Graco logo: Aspen 3 in 1, Ultra 3 in 1, Ultra 4 in1, Ultra 5 in 1, Whitney and the Trio. 06 June 2007, Simplicity Recalls Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs
See related recall on 21 September 2007
Reason For The Crib Recall:
The assembly instructions provided with the cribs provide incorrect information on attaching the crib's drop side. If improperly installed, the drop side can separate from the crib, posing a fall and entrapment hazard to your baby. Additionally, the metal locking pins on the drop side can pop off. This presents a choking hazard. CPSC is aware of an incident in which the crib's drop side, which was installed upside down, fell from its upright position and the metal locking pins became dislodged. Simplicity received a report of wrong instructions being packaged with the crib. Description Of The Product: 40,000 cribs sold as part of the Nursery-in-a-Box furniture set. Description Of The Product: 180 sleigh, solid wood, round cribs, model #2005, in a mahogany finish. These cribs were sold in children's furniture stores nationwide from January 2005 through March 2007 for about $600. What Should You Do?
