Citrus Stripes Baby Nursery

by Lindsey Stone
(Sonoma, CA, USA)

My Citrus Stripes baby nursery was inspired by the colors of citrus fruit...oranges, lemons, limes etc...

What brand and color of paint did you use?
I painted 3 thick horizontal stripes throughout the room. I used Kelly Moore paints. The top stripe is Garden Soft Green, the middle stripe is Quiche Lorraine and the bottom strips is Chipper Tint.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.
I painted the entire room white first and then taped off the 3 stripes in the thickness I desired. I used a fogged glass spray paint for the mirrored closet door to carry on the striped theme.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?
The crib was purchased through Overstock.com. It is called the Modern Espresso/White crib.

What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?
The shelves were purchased through IKEA and the rest of the furniture was stuff I already had or was purchased through Craigslist.com

What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?
I used a white crib set with pops of lime green and aqua blue. It was purchased through Carousel Designs.

Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?
I flanked the mirrored closet door with 2 Sunbrella fabric

curtains for extra durability. I purchased through Restoration Hardware. The bright orange rug was purchased through Etsy and is handmade using recycled T-shirts so it is machine washable. The wonderful bird mobile above the crib was also another Etsy purchase and was also handmade using real tree limbs.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?
The shelves, dresser and some baskets and boxes throughout the room provide storage for all the baby toys.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?
I had a blast decorating this room and I became addicted to finding just the right accessories to complete the look. I wanted to keep the room fresh, cheery and something that our son could easily grow into. I didn't want the room to scream "Baby Boy," but went for a more gender neutral color scheme with furniture that he could grow with.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?
I did the entire room myself with the help of my husband with some furniture assembly.

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?
I love how all of the bright citrus colors create a fun and happy environment. It's the best room in the house...even on a dreary rainy day!
