Care-A-Lot Nursery

Care-A-Lot Nursery

We went round and round about what nursery theme to choose from, butterflies, princess, etc. We finally had a great idea to design a care bears theme nursery.

Both of us being born in the mid 1980s we were both very accustomed to the Care-a-lot cloud world of care bears, so we wanted to build a sanctuary in the sky for our daughter. The idea of the sky and floating clouds came from this.

We then found many cute design additions including the balloon, all the care bears, and care bears flare placed all around the room.

I then built a few custom corner shelves to give life to the corners of the sky, a large shelf to host the majority care bears upon a wall, a swing to hang from the ceiling, and some beautiful handcrafted wooden care bears lofted in the clouds.

The window decorations were dreamt of from Pinterest to add a canvas of color surrounding the care bears. The curtains were hand-made by fabric from my wife’s vintage 1980s crib bedding.

We absolutely love how it turned out and can’t wait for young Chandler Elizabeth Unsworth to join us in Care-a-lot this Christmas.

What brand and color of paint did you use?

Valspar Ultra.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.

Sky effect by wide brush strokes and 2 different shades layered.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?
Graco-Target

What brand of furniture did you choose? Where did you buy it?

Family heirloom

What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?

Care Bears- vintage.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?

Both.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?

It is a work in progress and it was fun for all! Building the corner shelves and painting the wall was the best part.

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?

It was a family effort, my wife and I did most of it, and her mother helped out a lot!

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?

We LOVE the wall with all the clouds with the wooden crafted care bears.
