24 July 2009, Dorel Recalls Maxi-Cosi Infant Car Seats Due To Crash Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: There are attachment difficulties between the seat and base. If the seat is improperly mounted to the base, your baby could be injured in the event of a crash. Maxi Cosi Mico Infant Child Restraint Systems with model numbers 22-371 and 22-372 and Maxi Cosi Mico Infant Child Restraint Systems - base only model number 22-515 are included in this recall. These car seats were manufactured from July, 2007 through February 17 2008. What Should You Do? Contact Dorel (1-877-657-9546) to request a free replacement base.
01 February 2008, Evenflo Recalls Discovery Infant Car Seats Due To Crash Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: Lab tests done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Evenflo showed that the car seat could potentially become separated from its base in a high impact side collision. Evenflo is providing a free supplemental dual-hook fastener proven to keep the seat attached to the base. Nearly 1 million Discovery Infant Car Seats with model numbers 390, 391, 534, and 552 are included in this recall. These car seats have been manufactured and sold since April, 2005. What Should You Do? Contact Evenflo (800-356-2229) to request the free fastener. No shipping is required. Expect it to arrive in 3-4 weeks. Until then, consumers are being encouraged to continue using the car seat.
22 October 2007, Britax Recalls Marathon Car Seats Due To Crash Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: If the child in the car seat weighs more than 50 lbs, the top tether hook may open and release from the tether anchor in a crash, allowing the child to get hurt. Description Of The Car seat: 13,000 Marathon car seats with model numbers E9L06, E9W06, and E906. These car seats were manufactured and sold from May 23, 2006 through July 28, 2006. The production date is printed on a white label located on the child's left-hand side of the seat, near the hand area. You may need to lift the cover to see the label. The lot number, KGR 01 A, is printed on the top tether hook. What Should You Do? Call Britax (800-683-2045) to request a repair kit. The seat can be safely used without the kit for children weighing less than 50 lbs.
10 May 2007, Evenflo Recalls Embrace Car Seats Due To Fall Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: When being used as a carrier, the handle can unexpectedly release, causing the seat to rotate forward. An infant could easily fall out. There have been 679 reports of the handle unexpectedly releasing, resulting in 160 injuries to children. Of those 160, there was one skull fracture, two concussions, as well as numerous cuts, scrapes and bruises. Description Of The Car seat: Evenflo Embrace car seats with model numbers beginning with 317, 320, 397, 398, 540, 548, 549, 550, 556, 597, 598, or 599. You can find the model number and production date information on a white label on the bottom of the carrier and on the top of the convenience base. Models beginning with 5 are sold with a travel system (with a stroller). The phrase Evenflo is printed on the carrying handle and car seat base. Embrace infant car seat/carriers made on or after April 8th, 2006 are not included in this recall. The seats were sold from December 2004 through September 2006 for between $70 and $100 alone and $140 to $200 when sold in as part of a travel system. What Should You Do? Contact Evenflo (800-490-7497) for a free repair kit to strengthen the handle latch. Do not use the handle until the repair kit has been installed. It can still be used as a car seat.
25 June 2003, Dorel Juvenile Group Recalls Cosco Arriva and Turnabout Car Seats Due To Fall Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: The plastic handle locks can unexpectedly break or release while using the seat as a carrier, causing the seat to unlatch and flip forward, possibly injuring your baby. There have been 416 reports breaking, resulting in 9 injuries to children. Description Of The Car seat: Cosco Arriva and Turnabout car seats with model numbers 02-665, 02-727, 02-728, 02-753, 02-756, 02-758, 02-729, 02-731, 02-732, 02-759, 02-760, 02-761, 02-733, 02-750, 02-751, 02-762, 02-763, 02-764, 02-755, 02-757, 02774, 02765, 02-770, 02-771, 02-772. You can find the model number and manufacture date on the instruction and warning label on the side of the carrier. The car seats were sold from September 1997 through December 2000 for between $30 and $60 alone or $90 to $140 when sold with strollers. They are no longer available to purchase. What Should You Do? Stop using the car seat as a carrier immediately. Contact Dorel Juvenile Group (800-880-9435) for a free repair kit.
20 May 2002, Dorel Juvenile Group Recalls Designer 22 Car Seats Due To Fall Hazard
Reason For The Car Seat Recall: The plastic handle can unexpectedly release, causing an unrestrained infant to fall to the ground and suffer injuries. There have been 4 reports of the handle releasing. Description Of The Car seat: Designer 22 car seats with model numbers and color codes 02-621-SAL, 02-620-AZY, and 02-620BEA. The model number and date of manufacture are located on the instruction and warning label on the side of the car seat/carrier. Car seats manufactured between January 3, 2002 and February 13, 2002 are included in this recall. The seats were sold from January 2002 through April 2002 for between $40 and $70 each. None of these seats were sold in Canada. What Should You Do? Stop using the seat as a carrier (it's okay to use as a car seat). Contact Dorel Juvenile Group (800-207-8182) for a free repair kit.
