Abbot Laboratories is recalling two lots of Calcilo XD Low-Calcium/Vitamin D-Free formula with Iron.

The formula is in powder form and sold in 14.1 ounce cans (400g). The recall only involves the formula in the 14.1 ounce cans.

This formula is specifically designed to nutritionally support infants and children with hypercalcemia (high calcium in the blood) and is only available through special order.

The stock code number 00378 and lot numbers 39973RB or 47239RB6 are printed on the bottom of the cans. No other Calcilo XD formulas are affected.

The recalled formula was distributed in the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Korea and Bahrain between 06/06/06 and 4/17/08.

Reason for the recall: Small amounts of air may have entered the can, resulting in oxidation. You may notice a slight aroma. Consumption of highly oxidized foods can result in nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Contact a health care professional if these symptoms occur for treatment.
