Bright and Bold Animal Nursery

Bright and Bold Animal Nursery
The inspiration for this nursery began with the bold, bright striped rug that I have always loved. I decided to build on the primary colors of the rug throughout the room to create a playful and happy feel. The Monte glider is one of my favorite pieces of furniture I own; comfortable and stylish, something that I will definitely use in our family room down the road. The wall decal was something that I came across online and loved how it brought the room to life - now all I needed was for my sweet baby boy to arrive! I'm a huge DIY'er and many of the accessories in my nursery were handmade: the needlepointed frog doorstopper, knitted bird mobile, acrylic painted animal wall blocks, yellow rectangular book pockets, fabric window valence and matching crib skirt. The wool rug is from IKEA and the ceiling fixture is the Nelson Pendant Bubble Lamp from yLighting. How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves? I bought a few white corner shelves to display toys and store our video monitor. The toy chest and 3Sprouts storage bin (purchased online from BareBabyEarth) are great for storing toys. How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part? I had a great time putting this nursery together. I loved the anticipation and preparation of it all. I started knitting the bird mobile when I was about 5 months pregnant and wanted to have the room finished by the time I was 8 months pregnant. It's a good thing I did because my little boy decided to come a bit early and I was glad to be as prepared as we were! Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do? Other than hiring an electrician to install the pendant lamp, my husband and I worked together on it. What do you love most about your little one's finished room? I love the overall playful feel that the room has. While it's a bright and happy room, it's also quite practical and comfortable - a great balance. TIP: If painting or making your own tree seems a bit daunting, try an easy stick, removable tree wall decal. There are lots of beautiful ones available and they really brighten up the room!
