Baby Meadow Nursery

My inspiration for the Baby Meadow Nursery was my wife. I wanted to make a room that would make her feel as if she was in a calm relaxed outdoor setting.

She really doesn't like to stay indoors very much and is happier outside in a park walking our dogs. I felt that staying inside all day with the baby would give her a bad case of cabin fever. My goal was to make a room that could turn a nursery into an escape.

I used the Valspar "Hi-Def" Low VOC Paint & Primer to paint the room. I really didn't do any paint effects. I didn't want to make the nursery too busy.

I bought the Ocean crib by Baby's Dream, We purchased it at USA Baby in Las Vegas. The dresser is the matching dresser to the crib. I also bought a bookshelf at Ikea for a reasonable price.

I bought the Banana Fish Love Bird Bedding set. The sphere canvas light was purchased at an auction for only five dollars. I purchased the carpet at IKEA for a reasonable price. I also designed the chinchilla in the clouds and made it out of cardboard and wooden dowels, painted with acrylic paint.

The nursery took 4 weekends of hard back-breaking manual labor. It was more rewarding than difficult. I had a cool friend that was on paper mache dipping detail. He saved me lots of time.

I love the fact that my wife was completely speechless when she saw it. I didn't allow her to even peek in that room till I was done.

TIP: If painting or making your own tree seems a bit daunting, try an easy stick, removable tree wall decal. There are lots of beautiful ones available and they really brighten up the room!
