23 December 2008, Munire Recalls Newport Rubbed Black Cribs and Matching Furniture Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard.
Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall:
The red paint which is underneath the black finish paint on some of the cribs and matching furniture exceeds federal lead limits. If ingested by babies lead can cause adverse health effects. Munire has received one report of a child ingesting the paint. The child was diagnosed with lead poisoning. Description Of The Product: 3,000 Newport Rubbed Black 4-in-1 cribs and 6,000 matching furniture pieces are being recalled. The recalled cribs and furniture are made of wood and have a rubbed black finish. Only the Newport Rubbed Black cribs and matching furniture manufactured in Indonesia between April 2006 and November 2008 are included in this recall. The model number, date, and country of manufacture are printed on the label attached to the side panel of the crib and the date of manufacture is on the back panel of the furniture. Models listed below are included in the recall:
The recalled cribs and furniture were sold at specialty furniture stores nationwide from April 2006 through November 2008 for about $600 for the crib and the matching furniture pieces were sold between $700 and $1,000. Additional accessories were sold for about $170. What Should You Do? Stop using the products and contact Munire Furniture to receive a replacement coupon which will entitle consumers to exchange the products for another product free of charge. 03 July 2008, Bayside Furnishings Recalls Youth Bed Toy Chests Sold at Costco After the Death of a 22-Month-Old Child
![]() ![]() Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall: The lid supports on the toy chests fail to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, posing an entrapment and strangulation hazard to your baby. CPSC received one report of a death involving a 22-month-old boy of Roseville, California. He strangled when the lid of the toy chest fell on the back of his head and entrapped his neck on the edge of the chest of a LaJolla Boat Bed. Description Of The Product: 9,350 LaJolla Boat Beds and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Beds are being recalled. The preassembled toy chests are designed in the shape of a ship or boat’s “bow” and attached to the beds as a footboard. The LaJolla Boat Bed toy chest has a hardwood top and white wood base with a blue stripe. The Pirates Boat Bed toy chest has a hardwood top, wheel shape and brown wood base with decorative carvings. These beds were sold at Costco and furniture retail stores nationwide and Costco.com from January 2006 through May 2008 for between $700 and $1,400. What Should You Do? Stop using the toy chest immediately, and contact the firm for instructions on receiving a free repair kit with replacement lid supports. 01 May 2008, Lowe's Stores Children's Storage Bins Recalled Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall:
Surface paint on the storage bins could contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Description Of The Product: 84,000 wooden storage bins are being recalled. The storage bins have scalloped edges and were sold in pastel green or pink. Item numbers 226782 (pastel green storage bin) and 226781 (pink storage bin) are included in this recall. The item number is located on the bottom of the storage bin. These storage bins were sold at Lowe's retail outlets nationwide from March 2007 through February 2008 for about $6. What Should You Do? Stop using the storage bins immediately, and return them to any Lowe's store for a full refund. 24 April 2008, Avon Products Recalls Basketball and Flower Tables Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall:
Surface paint on the tables contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Description Of The Product: 1,000 Basketball and Flower Tables are being recalled. The Basketball Table is about 16 inches tall with white legs and a 19-inch diameter top. The Flower Table is about 30 inches tall with a green petal stand and a 15-inch diameter purple and yellow top.
These tables were sold through Avon Independent Sales Representatives in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from June 2007 through August 2007. The Basketball Table sold for about $32 and the Flower Table sold for about $37.
What Should You Do? Stop using the tables immediately, and contact Avon for a full refund. Known purchasers are being directly notified of this recall. 08 February 2008, Netshops Recalls Children's Table and Chair Sets Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall:
The surface paint on the children's table and chair sets contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Description Of The Product: 50 Children's Table and Chair sets are being recalled. The table and chair sets are natural colored. The table is either round or rectangular, has a shelf under the table and includes two chairs. Model numbers ALZ024-3 and ALZ023-3 are included in this recall. The model number is printed on the packaging. These table and chair sets were sold by Netshops.com from November 2007 through December 2007 for between $100 and $130. What Should You Do? Stop using the table and chair set immediately, and contact Netshops for a full refund. Netshops has directly contacted consumers who purchased the table and chair set. 16 November 2007, Jetmax International Recalls Children’s Wooden Storage Rack
![]() Reason For The Baby Furniture Recall: The storage rack can tip over, posing an entrapment and suffocation hazard to your baby. CPSC has received one report of a death involving an 8-month-old boy who was asphyxiated after he pulled on the storage rack and it fell over on him. The top rail landed on the infant’s neck. Description Of The Product: 36,000 wooden storage racks are being recalled. The storage rack is wooden with three levels and nine removable canvas totes. There are wooden handles on each side of the rack. The boy’s storage rack has natural color wood with red, yellow, green, and navy canvas totes. The girl’s storage rack has white colored wood with pink, yellow, lime, and purple canvas totes. These wooden storage racks were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from August 2004 through July 2005 and Ollie’s stores nationwide from July 2006 through June 2007 for about $40. What Should You Do?
