Antique Shabby Chic Girls Nursery

The whole room

Our whole house is antique and shabby chic so I knew I wanted the nursery to fit, but be very girlie and comfy for two little girls.

What brand and color of paint did you use?
Behr Rich Chocolate Brown.

If you added stripes, polka dots or other paint effects, tell us how you did it.
I did a picture wall instead.

What brand of crib did you buy? Where from?
The crib was bought at a yard sale, and came with a dresser and a changing table. All the other furniture is bought from yard sales or craigslist. Most of the pieces we had to do a little updating to to make it fit it.

What bedding set did you use? Where did you buy it?
The bedding in this room was made by my mom. The material was picked out by me and her at a local fabric store. But the lace used in the crib set has actually been passed down in our family from my great great grandmother. So needless to say I will never be getting rid of this beautiful crib bedding set.

Tell us about your window treatments, lighting, rugs, wall decor and accessories. Where did you buy them - were any handmade?
The curtains are actually black out drapes, and regular white pretty curtains that I layered and tied together with ribbon.

The wall of pictures is made up of a bunch of frames purchased from yard

sales and goodwill and then painted in different shades of off white and hung with hooks (so they wont fall in case of an earthquake). The mobile I made out of materials I bought from Michael's Craft Store.

How did you store all your baby goodies? In baskets, on shelves?
Everything is in baskets, or drawers.

How long did it take you? Was it easy, fun, difficult? What was your favorite part?
I started working on it as soon as we found out we were expecting and just finished... So about 8 months. It was so much fun, but because we were on a limited budget it took a lot of hunting for deals and creative thinking. I loved every part of it though, and would do it all over again and again!

Did you do the entire nursery on your own or did someone help you? Who? What did they do?
I did the majority of it myself. My husband helped with the putting together of furniture, the crown molding, and the painting. And my mom made all the bedding, which was amazing because I could not find anything I liked for her crib.

What do you love most about your little one's finished room?
I love how it all came together. It feels so homey and comfortable. My 6 year old loves this room, and I hope our new little girl will love it just as much as we all do.

I love the photo wall - the light frames against the brown background are really effective.
